Bára Prášilová
One of the brand's creative faces is the Czech photographer Bára Prášilová, who will be exhibiting her work at the Grande Palais on 20 and 21st November 2009.
Coming from Prague, Bára Prášilová is an accomplished artist and an awarded photographer. Either being a model, a hairdresser or a make up artist for her own photoshoots, her world is all about images, lights and shadows. One day, she decided to dedicate her life to photography, and since then she never stopped mixing fashion and art into her pictures. She gets her inspiration from everything around her: her childhood, the weather, the seasons, landscapes, streets, people, clothes, faces, words, sentences...
Bára Prášilová arranges carefully the scene for each of her photos and even makes her own props to create the atmosphere she has dreamed of for a given theme. Her images are composed of elements in our life, yet they bring us to a world of fairies, dreams and nature. "During my childhood, everything around me was so intense. My imagination was so strong and alive; the forest was so much deeper and the night so much darker... the best souvenirs of my childhood are things that actually never happened...".
In March 2009 she took a trip to London to create a series of portrait photos of five Quiksilver women ambassadors. Thanks to Bára's photographs, balancing on the thin line between fashion and art, this exhibition allows for a non-intruding look inside the souls of the young artists and their worlds full of fantasies. "I did not know the five portrayed artists at the time but I drew much inspiration from their creative work which I got to know on the Internet. Looking back, I was quite surprised to see how well I'd captured their characters!" said the photographer of fragile dreams Bára Prášilová.
The result of this photoshoot is a collection of images known as Quiksilver women by Bára Prášilová, will be exhibiting at the Grange Palais on 20th and 21st November.
