Happy Riding Day, Crystal Ground Snowpark, Kleinwalsertal, Austria

The Crystal Ground Snowpark in Kleinwalsertal, Austria was the place to be for all shredding Kids on February the 26th. A beautiful sunshine-day in a perfect shaped park provided the best conditions for the Happy Riding Day in Austria. 8 young riders from Germany and Austria got together to show their skills. First obstacle was a Downrail, then a Box and as highlight a nice Kicker-session. They all gave their best to get the best tricks on video for the online-voting on quiksilverlive.com. After the exhausting sessions they got back some energy by eating burgers and grabbing some Radar-Goodies. A fun day ended for the happy shredders and now they are hoping for lots of votes to get to the finals.

The first Happy Riding Day in Kranjska Gora ends up in Awesomeness!

On february 19th 2011, beautiful, snowy and sunny snowpark Kranjska Gora (SLO), hosted it's first ever Happy Riding Day!

At first, it was all or nothing for the park crew and organisers who would have to work hard to keep all the obstacles smooth due to warm spring and foggy like conditions that have been rolling around Slovenia for the past 3 weeks.

But when the final day arrived the skies were clear and the riders could begin their journeys through the perfectly shaped snow park!

8 junior riders from around Slovenia, witnessed this first time awesomeness that was awarded to them by Kranjska Gora and Quiksilver.

Allthough they had to arrive in the snow park early in the morning and ride hard all day, they seemed to have enjoyed it every single moment!

After that we organised a BBQ session at the local park cabin to pay the kids of for their whole day of shredding they had to do for the cameraman.

So at end of this fun filled day we could only see the smiles on everyones faces!

Thanks everyone! And never stop shredding!

It was a wintry mountain landscape in Sälen February 18th. The fir trees were covered with snow, the temperature was -10° and the sun was shining.

The Radar participants were excited to start riding in the well-shaped Pink Park, one of the largest parks in Sweden. Quiksilver's own team rider Jakob Wilhelmsson was Radar team captain and guided the group this day.

The group of athletes consisted of 14 boys and one girl, ages ranging from 8 to 13 years old.

The mood among riders were on top, all support each other and seemed to have a lot of fun. They were challenged on blue jump, red boxes as well as black jumps.

All riders showed that they were very talented and could do tricks as front flip and 900. The youngest participant is 8 years old and did an awesome frontside boardslide on one of the longest boxes.

La Plagne : Last stop in France

The French Happy Riding Days come to an end at La Plagne.

After a brief at the Quiksilver Boardrider, the kids slipped on their numbers and we shot off to the Park. The sky was becoming a bit cloudy but nothing could stop our future champions. In a couple of words the day was lively, full of smiles and lots of fun. Jumps followed on, higher and higher and very spectacular, which promised us a day full of surprises.

After enjoying the last ray of sun, we went to eat couscous to prepared by Omar, which gave us all plenty of energy before going back on the slopes.

The first snowflakes began to fall, whilst we were putting on our skis and snowboards to throw ourselves into the 7meters half pipe. In spite of a very reduced visibility because of the snow less all our young riders gave all they could throughout the entire day.

The stop ended with a very fun moment jumping onto the airbag, where everyone could show what they where capable of.

It was exhausted but happy that we all parted with the feeling that we shared a day full of many good moments.

Thanks again to everyone : Mathieu from the snowpark, Omar for that fantastic couscous and of course a special thank you to all participants.

An Happy Riding Day in Switzerland

08.00 Sunshine all over the region above the «Rhone-Valley». We moved up to the cable car station in Les Crosets, close to the Superpark, the place to be for the kids.

10.00 Teamriders Meeting, bottom station Les Crosets
7 Kids (1 girl / 6 boys), 4 from Switzerland, 2 from France and 1 from the U.K. started a beautiful happy riding day in Portes du Soleil! Unfortunately, three boys got injured a few days before the contest. Heads up boys and get well soon!

11.15 ACTION! Everything was ready and after the training session we started with the personal statements, the first video acts of the day. Then the kids rocked the fantastic shaped obstacles! Boys from the Superpark, our respect is yours !

Birri, our camera man, filmed all the tricks on the different obstacles and the kids got really stoked. What we saw made our jaws drop! There were a lot of Spins, Flips, Flares, Mutes, Japans, Truck-drivers, Lip Slides, Wall Rides and, and, and…wow, what a show!

13.30 Let's fill our empty bellies! All together guided by the park personal moved to a charming restaurant for a fantastic lunch.

14.30 Closing session. The kids haven't had enough yet and so they continued riding and filming until 15.30.

16.00 Cut and out!  Thanks to all the kids, parents, camera man Birri, and the boys from the park. We had a great day up there, lots of smiling faces and no serious injuries. Just a real Happy Riding Day!

First stop in the French Alps

The Houches' stop was much waited for. The DC Snowpark is one of the most beautiful ones in France and all the kids were very excited. Warm up on the rails then on the small air of the Park, lunch time was coming up and Jesus prepared for us a barbecue at the foot of the Park, good job that the sun was shining.

Once the team had filled up with energy, we went back to ride more serious modules. Lively atmosphere was here and the day ended with a Freeride session on the Kandahar's slope, where the Men's Alpine Skiing World Cup had just occurred.

One last goodies' distribution and a bit weepy we let our future pro riders go.

Once again, thank you to everyone for allowing it to be such a successful day.  And more particularly to JP for shaping up such a perfect Park, Jesus, who takes care of the chalet, and Alex Maillet from DC shoes.

And finally, congratulations to all the kids who participated today and who gave their very best throughout the day.

See you soon on the slopes!

Quiksilver Radar : Riding Day Sierra Nevada

Saturday dawned with clear skies, quality snow and pleasant temperatures... practially perfect conditions to celebrate the Sierra Nevada Riding Day with the Quiksilver Radar finalists.

After protectors and welcome packs had been shared out, we entered the snowpark to film and photograph the Spanish up-and-coming snowboarding and freeski talents.

The riders' motivation deserves a special mention; they fought hard to be ever better than their peers, to improve their tricks and fly higher than anyone had before them. Many of the finalists had been training hard for days for the event and were eager to show of their skills.

Now we just have to wait a little longer to see the riders' videos in  www.quiksilverlive.com and to wait for out favourites, which until now are... ALL OF THEM!

Remember that 18 of them will qualify for the European finals of the Quiksilver Radar competition, which will take place during the XGames in Tignes, from March 16 to 18. Before the eyes of the snowboarding and freeski elite, the finalists will then compete for a place in the official Quiksilver & Roxy snowboarding team.

The talented UK groms showed us their skills at Tamworth Snowdome!

This past weekend saw the Quiksilver and Roxy Radar contest stop by Tamworth Snowdome for the UK ‘Happy Riding Day'. Nine talented grom shredders from all over the UK, travelled to hit the park specially designed by the Snowdome. Filmer Josh Knox was there to capture their best tricks and MC Christian Stevenson encouraged the riders by providing prizes for any sick moves spotted!

Full of energy, the riders shredded late in to the night, impressing the public and the camera! Groms walked away with armfuls of Quiksilver, Lib Tech and Roxy goodies, and more importantly a minute edit of their riding. These vids are to be uploaded to www.quiksilverlive.com where they will feature in an online gallery, along with all the other grom finalists from around Europe.

They are now one step closer to the XGames, with their fate resting on the tricks they pulled, the edit that was captured and the votes it gets! 3 groms are to be selected by the public vote and 15 by the pros choice. With the lucky 18 coming together for the Super Final of the Quiksilver & Roxy Radar at the European XGames in March!

Videos will be online once the Happy Riding Days are complete and all European groms have had their chance to shred for the camera. Check out www.quiksilverlive.com from 26th of February to get voting.

Quiksilver’s Happy Go Riding day is a smash hit with the groms in Trysil, Norway

The participants for this year's HRD got to experience Parken Trysil at it's best in cold, but sunny conditions.

After two days of snow it finally cleared up and revealed a playground of majestic dimensions. All the riders were blown away by the quality of the park; ”It's so amazingly good here today!” said Jens Johnsen, which is representing Norway in the Ski -14 class.

The park crew has been working really hard to cater for an optimal experience and it was obvious that their efforts had paid off; ”All the obstacles are so incredibly smooth and it's been superfun to film here today”, said Hanne, the smiling entrant in the Girl Snowboard category.

Although the sun disappeared in the afternoon it was still smiles all around as we staged a laidback railjam-session for the kids in the bottom end of the park.

The day was finished off with a buffet at the local pizza parlour and some indoor surfing at SAS Radisson Trysil.

Happy, but tired, the kids signed off early as the video-editor started assembling the gold.

Thanks to all the participants for bringing the stoke to the mountain!

Cerler : First stop in Spain

We couldn't have imagined a more beautiful day to start the Happy Riding Days in Spain. The sun was shining and the riders were so exited to get started.

After the all the riders where given their numbers, the warm up took place in the Kids Park where Yoann « Spielberg » started working magic. Then a gathering at the DC Park with a couple of good jumps and after a long morning of sport, « Mister » Loubsens and the Cerler's resort offered us a lunch to recuperate up build up enough energy for the afternoon. An interview of each kid and a group picture, and it was time to go back down to the parking with more than a 12 km ride.

Thank you to Stéphane Loubsens and Daniel Dumig for such a warm welcome, we were all very pleased to join you in Spain.

The second Edition of the Quiksilver Radar seems to be at least as intense as the first one if not more…. The kids' motivation and the freestyle guarantees many more good moments.

Thanks again to everyone for this amazing stop. Without any doubt there is much complicity and conviviality in surfing and snowboarding. Days like the one we've just experienced, reminds us of the pleasure it is to share riding session among freestyle lovers.

1st Stage Livigno: the Happy Riding Days have officially started

The Happy Riding Days started on Saturday, February 5, with the first two stages in Celer (Spain) and Livigno, one of the best Italian resorts for snowboarding and freestyle skiing.

In a day of bright sunshine and of fun and good mood, thanks to the cooperation of Skipass Livigno, Area Mottolino and the Freestyle Club Livigno, 11 riders aged 9-13 have been chosen.

The selection opened in the morning with a first jibbing and rail filming session in the Amerikan Snowpark sponsored by Quiksilver, where guys have had the chance to show their tricks on many different structures.

In the afternoon, everybody moved to the Mottolino to film on the Italian biggest snowpark's kickers, made up by four different areas divided in different levels of difficulty. Here the shredders could show their style, some of them also jumped on the L zone, the one usually reserved to expert snowboarders and skiers, with kickers not for all...
