The Phil Edwards Band are a five piece from New Zealand bringing together elements of folk, blues, roots and country to create a unique blend of music which has proven itself to be accessible to a huge range of audiences. The honest, emotive lyrics of Phil's songs captivate audiences while the live energy of the band adds another dimension to the music and never fails to get crowds on their feet.
Slow Borders is the debut album from the Phil Edwards Band, released in March 2011 to the US and New Zealand where it fared well, receiving great reviews throughout.
The album was a culmination of three years writing and recording by the band who self produced the majority of the tracks. The mixing and final production was done in New York by the Grammy Award-winning producer, mixer and engineer Dave O'Donnell (James Taylor, John Mayer, Eric Clapton). Slow Borders was then mastered at Stirling Sound, also in New York, by Ryan Smith (Beyonce).
The first single from the album “Crash†received significant airplay across mainstream New Zealand radio networks and the accompanying video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN2I9VHid60) did equally well on-line and on TV.
The band has performed at numerous high profile festivals throughout New Zealand and Australia including “Rhythm & Vines†(Gisborne, NZ), Moomba Water Festival (Melbourne) as well as performing at numerou self promoted shows.
The band is currently preparing for a busy southern hemisphere summer and is looking to secure shows in Canada/North America for the 2012 summer.
