Imprinting their own style on Brit-Pop, Gold Coast new comers “Oceanics” bring their big hollow guitars and clean, jangling tones to the ears of the uninitiated.
It is this love of the raw energy of Brit-Pop that lead to Elliot Weston (Singer/Guitar) and Jackson Haswell (Harmonies/Guitar) into formulating a writing partnership in early 2005. However, it was not until 2009 that “Oceanics” was born when Percussionist Andy Geisel and bassist Zach Hylton cemented there spots.
Since such time the enigmatic four piece have recently had a plethora of shows encasing South East Queensland including a key performance in front of 15,000 at skilled park and supports of such acts as Drawn from Bees gaining reviews from Time-Off's Sam Hobson:
“…just like Jeff Buckley meets The Kooks…” the boys' tremendously textured tunes bob in an exquisite sea of liquid electrics, and curt, seaside acoustic-work”
Opportunities continue through out the remainder of the year with the Oceanics performing at The GCMIA's Big Sound Party in Bakery Lane Fortitude Valley on the 9th September and the Caloundra Music Festival in October.
Oceanics will continue their strict work ethos with a return to the recording studio to complete their debut EP with a pending release date of October followed by a touted tour with some of Brisbane's other Indie darlings.
