Local knowledge and youthful exuberance have proven to be the undoing of many a seasoned pro. Ask Kelly Slater who the most dangerous competitor in an ASP World Tour event is, and he'll tell you: The Wildcard! With everything to gain and nothing to lose, the wildcard can wreak carnage on the world's best surfers who are in the midst of their world title campaign. Furthermore, the wildcard will find himself in the most anticipated heat of the draw - usually up against the ratings leader.
The Quiksilver Pro New York ASP World Tour Trials, presented by UnSound Surf, Supported by Vitamin Water, is giving one lucky surfer a golden ticket to the Quiksilver Pro New York main event. Sixteen up-and-coming red-hot surfers from the East Coast, West Coast, Hawaii and around the world will battle it out in a one-day competition, between September 1 - 3, to see who will win the wildcard. It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance for these guys to prove themselves on a global stage, against the best in the business.
