Hailing from what rural Queenslanders commonly refer to as 'The Big Smoke', Brisbane born Evil Eddie looks set to become the next big winner on the cult variety show "Bundamba's Got Talent". Having served as front man for the three time ARIA award nominated Hip Hop/Punk outfit Butterfingers for the last nine years, Evil Eddie is now a solo man for the first time under his own moniker, while the rest of the Butterfingers team tend to the communally owned truffle farm.
With an APRA award for Most Performed Urban Work already to his credit, "Evil" (as he is affectionately known by his ex-girlfriends) shows no signs of straying from his roots (figuratively speaking) and further hones the Hip Hop/Punk blend that riff raff around the world have come to know and moderately like.
On his highly anticipated debut album tentatively title "Welcome To Flavour Country", Eddie will follow in the footsteps of artists such as Prince, Dave Grohl and that homeless guy in the Valley Mall, by recording all of the instrumentation entirely by himself. This is, of course, with the exception of drums because as many of you would know, Eddie's way too unco to do anything remotely rhythmical with more than one limb at a time.
The first single off the album, a little diddy about his home-state aptly titled "Queensland", was released at the end of last year. Australia was quite taken with Evil's brilliantly uncouth musings. Not only has the video for 'Queensland' racked up 130,000+ views on Youtube, the track also reached the #1 position on triple J's Super Request, and was voted #86 in triple J's Hottest 100 for 2010. The second track, '(Somebody Say) Evil', garnered even more attention for Mr Evil, again being added to triple J.
Now comes the third single, 'De-Sex Your Ex'. Even more shocking than the previous two songs, Evil is expecting big things from this track. A lawsuit, some death threats .. who knows?!
