The last day of the Quiksilver Pro France saw 15-year-old Brazilian wonder kid, Gabriel Medina winning the Quiksilver World King Of the Groms Finals in historic style. Medina scored a maximum possible 20-point combined heat score in the final in an unbelievable display of surfing talent.

The two perfect 10-point scores were given by the judges, which rewarded Medina's incredible technical ability. Few surfers in the world today can boast such a repertoire of aerial manoeuvres, even fewer can perform this level of surfing heat after heat in a competition environment.

Morocco's Ramzi Boukhiam has won the 2009 edition of the Quiksilver King of the Groms, beating Tom Neushwanger (Fra), Ian Fontaine (Fra) and William Alliotti (Gua). Ramzi and Tom will go on to represent Europe in the International Final of the King of the Groms, set to take place from 23rd September to 4th October, during the Quiksilver Pro France 2009.

The Quiksilver King of the Groms East Coast Qualifier wrapped up yesterday in Florida with a full field of 40 groms. In the end, New Smyrna surfer Evan Geiselman was crowned the 2009 East Coast King. Along with the $850 cash for Skins, Evan also won an all-expense paid trip to France to compete in the King of the Groms World Championships this September.

Saturday started cloudy at the beach of Somo (Ribamontán Sea) but the competitive activity began under a bright sun and a light offshore breeze, perfect to satr the competition.

Around 8.30 in the morning was activated normal protocol formalizing inscriptions. A total of half a hundred participants, Cantabrian and Basque for the most part, looked eager to know when the crossings of their fighting in the water. 

Miles was a stand out of the contest with his solid surfing to take the title at the Quiksilver King of the Groms and earned himself a place in the European final  in the Basque spot, Zarautz, Spain on the 7th & 8th August. Last year Miles won the U14's which bagged him a spot in the European final which was held in Capbreton in France.

We had a really good turn out with 60 entry's so it show's that Irish surfing is on the up !

On Friday, June 5th, the Team Quiksilver young surfer Leonardo Fioravanti won for the second year running the Italian qualifying event of the Quiksilver King of The Groms at Ronchi - Poveromo Marina di Massa (MS).

Kommetjie local Davey Brand was crowned King of the Groms after taking out the title and the R3,500 winner's cheque in the premier Under 16 division at the second leg of the 2009 Quiksilver King of the Groms in fun conditions at Heralds Bay in the Southern Cape today.

Good surfing conditions, a good weather and 40 riders are present for the KOTG French Caraïbbean Final 2009.It was such  a beautiful show of surfing!!!

With a small onshore swell pulsing through on Sunday afternoon giving  Quikilver UK a chance to look at  young talent in Jersey during the 50th anniversary year of the Jersey Surfboard club.

On Monday the 1st of June, it was the second edition of the Northern European qualifyer of the King of the Groms.
