After a very difficult decision, our juding panel have unanimously chosen a winning story in this year's Heroes in the Spirit of Eddie Aikau contest. And the winner is...

Congratulations to the highest voted hero stories that were submitted throughout the Eddie event waiting period! We had a 4 way tie in votes in the end and as a result have included 28 finalists. Our panel of judges, including Kelly Slater and Peter Mel, will review the finalists and choose the winner who will be invited to attend the 2013/14 Eddie Opening Ceremony!

The Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau has officially closed its 28th annual holding period. A high surf episode with wave face heights of approximately 18 to 20 feet will be building throughout the day at Waimea Bay tomorrow, but is forecast to fall well short of the event's requirement: 35- to 40-foot faces.

Organizers of the QUIKSILVER IN MEMORY OF EDDIE AIKAU big wave invitational have announced that the event is officially a "NO GO" for the upcoming December 30/31 swell.

The opening ceremony for The Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau big wave invitational took place on the sands of Waimea Bay, on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, today. The 28 Invitees and 28 Alternates of this year's event shared in the celebration with the family of Eddie Aikau to celebrate the life of one of Hawaii's most respected big wave riders and heroes.

The 28th annual Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau, a one-day big wave invitational surfing event that requires waves measuring 20 feet or more, is excited to announce its list of 2012/13 Invitees and Alternates.
