Olivier Gittler shows he has no fear of colour

Olivier Glitter, member of the French national snowboard team wins the first edition of the quiksilver chromatophobia super pipe snowboard contest in La Plagne, French Alps, ahead of Christian Haller (Switzerland) and the young Norwegian Nation champion Fredrik Austbo.

An innovative scoring system added to the intensity as points were directly transferred into euros. Olivier accumulated 1010€ in points to give him the additional first place cheque of 4500€, Christian Haller goes home with 3500€, and Fredrik Austbo is happy with 2000€.

For the first Quiksilver Chromatophobia, La Plagne Super pipe offered a great show.

At the end of Round 1, Olivier Gittler, Aluan Ricciardi, Arthur Longo, Markku Koski, Fredrik Austbo, Johann Baisamy, Christian Haller, Sergio Berger et Valerian Du Courtil are qualified for the finales.

The world's very best freestyle snowboarders are together for the last Super Pipe competition to be held in France before the winter Olympics in 2010.

Quiksilver is creating a brand new winter meeting that will bring together the world's very best freestyle snowboarders in France, on Friday 3 April 2009.

The last Super Pipe competition to be held in France before the Winter Olympics in 2010, the Quiksilver Chromatophobia aims to establish itself as one of Europe's major snowboard meetings.

King of Snow

The event at La Plagne will also be hosting the final of King Of Snow, the first amateur snowboard competition on the web, sponsored by Quiksilver.

How it works: from December 2008 to March 2009, every fortnight, a pro-snowboarder performs a reference move that participants in the game, registered on www.urbanplagne.com, must then reproduce before posting videos of their exploits on the website.

The format

Fun and original, the contest format, inspired by the Mathieu Crepel Invitational 2008 event, invites each contender to select his favourite moves, which will then all go into a single pot together.

The chosen tricks will then be drawn at random by the judges and the contenders will have to incorporate them into their runs, with additional moves of their choice.
